About the Haptic Guide
What is the Haptic Guide?
Tuesday, 09 February 2010 22:17

The Haptic Guide is an electronic belt that is capable of guiding you to the location of a geo-tagged photo without the need for any visual or audio cues. It connects to a Nokia N900 phone via bluetooth and uses a combination of compasses and GPS data to determine the direction and provides feedback to the wearer using eight small vibrational motors along the length of the belt.

Current Status

The Haptic Guide is in the prototyping phase. There are currently three working prototypes, and we have plans to further develop additional prototypes using different designs.

For more information on the prototypes, please visit the Nokia PUSH website.

History, and moving forward
Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:09

The Haptic Guide is a technology that began as an entry into the Nokia Push contest.  We were selected as one of the winning teams and proceeded to build two prototypes which were later exhibited at the Push event in London alongside the other winning teams (LightHack Crew, Sketch Your World, Kaping and Soldering Skaters).  In the early part of March the projects will also be displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum  in London as part of the Decode exhibition.

Moving forward, this site is dedicated to the further development of the product towards a viable consumer technology as well as to keep the world at large aware of our progress.

Watch this space for more details on the Haptic Guide's development and any other relevant projects.
